The Opening Ceremony, celebrating the World Heritage Site Cartagena de Indias, provides an inspiring and informative, and entertaining event insight into the current state of exploration in Colombia and around the world, as well as a creative celebration of traditional Caribbean music and dance.

The ICE 2022 opening ceremony, moderated by General Chair Victor Vega, includes remarks from the following speakers:

  • Miguel Lotero, Vice Minister of Energy, Republic of Colombia
  • Armando Zamora, President of Colombia’s National Hydrocarbon Agency (ANH)
  • Felipe Bayón, CEO, Ecopetrol Group
  • Gretchen Gillis, AAPG President

The program will end with a traditional performance — a dazzling, unforgettable blend of artistry and powerful rhythms. It’s the perfect way to begin your Cartagena ICE experience. The ceremony begins at 17:00. Arrive early for the sights and sounds that are sure to be the talk of the day.
